· That Jesse would desire to grow closer to God and live a life that honors Him
· That it would be a priority to attend church every Sunday and that the words that the pastor speaks and the songs of the worship service would penetrate Jesse’s heart creating change
· The Jesse would see himself through God’s eyes- as a child of the King, forgiven for all, rather than a failure who can’t measure up
· That God would teach Jesse how to be the spiritual leader of our household
In his relationship with me:
· That he would love me with a self-sacrificial love as God calls him to do, even when I am unlovable and difficult
· That he would desire me and enjoy time with me
· That he would be honest with me and respect my feelings/emotions
· That I would be able to respect Jesse as I’m called to do, even when I don’t agree with his actions
· That I would desire him and seek to spend time with him and be affectionate with him
· That I would be able to forgive the hurts of the past and that God would give me direction in facing the hurts of today
In his role as a parent:
· That he would have a heart for our children
· That Jesse’s addictions and weaknesses will not be passed onto our sons
· That our kids will grow to see Jesse as an example of a Godly parent who instructs them in the ways of the Bible
· That he would not see our kids as sources of stress or as burdens, but purely as sources of joy and love them wholeheartedly and purposefully
In finances:
· That he would make wise choices
· That we make it a priority to give to God first and then to honor Him in our spending, being good stewards of what we’ve been given
· That the lack of money would cease to be a source of stress because we both know that God is our Provider
· That we are able to move to a place of more stability financially, and pay our bills on time with a savings set aside for emergencies
In work & school:
· That Jesse would not grow weary of working so hard, but do it as unto the Lord
· That God would give him direction in his career and schooling, so that his work is productive and fruitful
· That he would be prosperous in what he does and see the benefits of his hard work through raises, praise, and good grades
In his weaknesses:
· That Jesse would be able to overcome his addiction to tobacco with God’s help- that he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him.
· That his addictions would not hurt him physically despite the bad choices
· That God would break this cycle of defeat and apathy that Jesse has gotten stuck in.
In his strengths:
· That God would reveal to Jesse what his talents, strengths, and life-purpose is
