#11: My Favorite TV Shows...
I already shared on challenge day 1 that my favorite TV show is Vampire Diaries. So, I guess for this challenge, I will tell you a little more about the show.

The story revolves around the 3 main characters: Elena, Stefan, and Damon.

Stefan and Damon are brothers who fell in love with the same girl, Katherine, in the 1800's. Katherine, however, was a vampire (a malicious one at that) who played the brothers against each other. She manipulated both of them into loving her, and used their love to turn them into vampires too. At a time when vampires were being hunted by the local townspeople, Damon and Stefan were both killed for aiding the vampires, which ultimately caused their transformations.

Now, a century later, the brothers return as enemies to their hometown in Virginia, but find themselves again attracted to the same girl, Elena, who bears a remarkable resemblance to Katherine. Stefan, who is kind-hearted and chooses not to hunt people, begins dating Elena in a match made in TV heaven. Damon, who is bitter towards everyone, initially comes into town looking to hurt everyone. But his attraction to Elena and his ever-growing relationship with Stefan help him to lose his evil persona, and instead keep just enough of a bad-boy edge.

There is no romantic relationship between Damon and Elena, but his love for her and her compassion for him keep the tension strong.
In the meanwhile, Elena's best friend, Bonnie, learns that she is a decedent of the Salem witches and begins to develop her powers. But after losing her grandma while trying to save vampires, Bonnie becomes resentful and is torn between her love for Elena and her hate for what Stefan and Damon are.

Jeremy is Elena's brother, who is struggling to figure out who he is. He has lost a lot of people close to him and has recently learned a lot of ugly truths about life. He doesn't quite know how he feels about the whole vampire life, and he's angry at Elena for lying to him about so much of it. But he wants to be a part of everything and is becoming part of the team in fighting any enemies that come along.

Caroline is the ditsy blonde cheerleader who has been whiny and manipulative in the past, but after being turned into a vampire by Katherine, she is working hard to help her friends defeat the bad guys while she figures out how to adjust to her new lifestyle.

Matt is the innocent guy-next-door who is clueless to the real identities of all of his friends. He recently has been dating Caroline and loved her, but when she turned into a vampire, her fear of hurting him pushed them apart. He's naive but oh so sweet, and just struggling to understand those around him.

Alaric is the high school teacher that teamed up with the teens after his wife (who turns out to be Elena's real mom) who was an expert in paranormal activity ends up becoming a vampire, just like those she studied. Turns out, she did it on purpose and isn't such a great person. Alaric is trying to help everyone else stay safe from the evil supernatural people that are out there, while using his experience and skills to their benefit. And, in the meanwhile, he's dating Elena's aunt Jenna.

Finally, there's gotta be the token werewolf! Tyler Lockwood. Only, in this story, there's no love-triangle between him, Elena, and any vampire. He actually just transformed for the first time this last episode, but the season has previously been leading up to his discovery that his rage goes a little further than teen angst. Tyler comes from a wealthy family where the family was full of secrets. His dad pushed Tyler around abusively, but put on a good face as mayor of their town. Now that his dad is dead, Tyler is just beginning to realize how deep the family secrets go. And since vampires and werewolves are sworn enemies, I'm sure there will be some conflict with his new transformation.

Of course there are many other characters that add to the storyline, but there's way too many details to actually share. This post has little to no long-term significance, but I love the show, with the right amount of mystery, romance, suspense, action, and twists.
